Russell and Aimee were married at the Old Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

It’s a wonderful little white clapboard church in Magazine, Arkansas, from which you have a view of Mount Magazine through the door of the church.

Russell and Aimee are such a beautiful couple inside and out.

You can tell they adore each other.

David and Amanda are engaged to be married in June. We had a beautiful day for photos in spite of the wind.

Andria and Jake

Andria and Jake are a nice couple who are
tying the knot in September.

We took engagement photos at the Runestone Park.
There’s some debate on whether the runes are authentic.
I like to think so. I think it’s entirely possible that those
Norsemen came down the Arkansas and Poteau Rivers.
No one living today was actually there to know
what the depth of the rivers was in 1012 AD.

More pretty silhouettes.

Heavener was originally named Choctaw City.
If you’re not from the area you might think it’s pronounced
“Heaven – er”, with a short “e” sound,
as in the heavenly abode with an “er” on the end,
but that would be incorrect.
It’s pronounced “heave – ner” with a long “e” sound,
as in “watch out I’m going to…”

Shannon and Matt

Shannon and Matt married at the Circle of Light Chapel
overlooking Beaver Lake.
It’s a beautiful area right on the lake

and there was a sky at sunset that
made for a fairy tale background.

Shannon and Matt included the girls in their ceremony,
saying vows to them,
and giving them a family necklace as a symbol of their
love and commitment to them.

Teaching Silhouettes

This silhouette photo was taken by my 14-year-old son. I thought he did an awesome job! I coached him through it, telling him how to set the exposure for the sky and then focus on the subject. He would take a few….look at them, and get frustrated. Sometimes it was because he had our heads into the horizon, or the focus wasn’t just right. Finally, when his hands were tired, and David was sick of looking at me cross eyed, he captured this one. Do you know what a feat this was? To get a man, even a man that likes you quite a bit, to stand still this long for a photograph?
(Sometimes it’s like they’re afraid you’re going to steal their soul or something.)
Also, to keep a 14-year-old, whose first love is not photography, interested and encouraged enough to take the photo?
It was worth it. It’s my all time favorite picture of us.
